1950s-Square Dancing at the Opry
Ever since I first learned to flat-foot and clog listening to old-time and bluegrass music as a little girl, I've loved to square dance.
I was delighted to find this short video of one of the groups that won the hearts
of Opryland in the 1950s. If you watch their feet fly to the music, you can
certainly see why.
I love those dresses, too. I spent many years performing with
Appalachian clogging groups and used a very similar pattern to make most of my
performance dresses.
Here's a nod to my Appalachian roots and my love of old-time
dancing.
